Felons Brewing Co is located in the Howard Smith Wharves precinct in Brisbane. Sitting right on the river and directly beneath the mighty Story Bridge, Felons boasts one of the best locations of any pub in the city.

Here’s my full review of Felons Brewing Co.

The Venue

Felons is a massive complex, with a huge indoor barrel hall and multiple outdoor areas including riverside seating, tables by the playground and an upstairs patio. It seems to go on forever!

There’s a serious buzz to this place, and the setting is undeniably stunning – with the iconic Story Bridge towering above you and glorious views of the Brisbane river.

On Sundays, they run Community Family Fun Day sessions, with heaps of activities to keep the kids entertained. There’s face painting, balloon making, family trivia and kids eat free!

Be warned though: Felons is busy. Despite the size and number of seating areas, on weekends you’ll be fighting others for a table – especially if you want one near the playground.

The outdoor areas are hit-and-miss when it comes to shade, but they are dog-friendly so you can bring the whole family with you.

It’s also a popular spot for large group gatherings and birthday parties.

A note about parking. It is exorbitantly expensive thanks to the location – $30 for 1.5 hours. You might prefer to take the ferry instead – there’s a stop right at Howard Smith Wharves.

The Food

Felons isn’t particularly known for its food – it’s standard pub fare, nothing too inspiring. The main menu has a focus on seafood and there are no steaks. Wait times for the food can be really long.

Instead, opt for the pizzas – these are fresh, delicious, and typically arrive much faster than the food ordered from the main menu.

Felons is a brewery so there’s lots of good selection of beer on tap.

The Playground

The playground centres around a pirate ship which the kids can go inside – it looks like a real boat! It also has a tunnel slide and upstairs deck. It’s great fun for the kids – perfect for using their imaginations – and it will be swarming with children of all ages.

Felons

The pirate ship playground is not fenced, and is open to a small back road.

With so many distractions around, it’s easy for kids to wander – so if you have younger ones keep a good eye on them.

Felons

Inside the beer hall, you’ll find arcade games like pinball and a ping pong table, as well as the balloon twisting and face painting.

Felons – Final Thoughts

Felons is a great spot to visit with friends while the kids are kept endlessly entertained. If you want to while away your Sunday afternoon by the river and don’t mind the crowds – Felons is a winner.
