French & Mor offers a French-inspired high tea experience in the Brisbane suburbs.

Known for its patisserie-style cakes and pastries, it’s also a great spot for coffee, sandwiches and sweet treats.

I took my high tea buddy Rose with me to try French & Mor’s French High Tea – here’s our full review.

The Venue

Located in a small shopping strip in northwest Brisbane, French & Mor is a local neighbourhood cafe in Albany Creek.

High tea here is a relaxed affair, making it a great option for mixed dining – perfect if some of your party would prefer to order from the main menu.

The inside of the cafe is beautiful, and there’s plenty of outdoor seating too.

This is one of the few dog-friendly high tea venues in Brisbane – you can even buy your pup their own biscuit so they can join in the fun!

The Menu

The French High Tea is $49 for adults, with a children’s high tea available for $39.

Gluten free and vegetarian options are available.

In addition to high tea, French & Mor offers a tempting menu of pastries, sandwiches and an array of patisserie-style cakes, eclairs and macarons.

The Tea

High tea comes with a pot of perfectly brewed T2 tea. The selection is really interesting – you can choose from black, green, herbal or fruit teas, all with enticing names like Pumping Pomegranate, Fruitalicious and Morning Sunshine. We opted for Packs A Peach – a fruity peach, papaya and apple blend – and Gorgeous Geisha – a green tea infused with strawberries and cream.

These were easily the best teas we’ve had at any high tea in Brisbane. Both were absolutely delicious – so fragrant and flavourful. You could really taste the strawberries and cream in the green tea!

The tea is served in a teapot with a strainer and petite white cups and saucers – a lovely touch.

If you don’t drink tea, you can opt for coffee or juice instead.

The Food

The food is served on a wooden tiered stand and includes savouries, scones and sweet treats.

The Savouries

The savoury layer includes two chicken, cucumber and tomato sandwiches; a ham, cheese and lettuce croissant; and an individual serving of beetroot hummus with crackers and grissini. This was the first time I’ve had a dip as part of a high tea, so we enjoyed that novelty.

Both Rose and I loved the ham, cheese and lettuce croissant. The homemade mayonnaise inside was so delicious – we could have easily eaten two!

The Scones

The scones are large and come with jam and lightly whipped cream. The cream was a little thin, but the jam was delicious and Rose especially enjoyed these.

The Sweet Treats

This is where the high tea really shines. Made by Le Bon Choix – a popular Brisbane-based French patisserie – these were exquisite and delicately presented. We each had a macaron, a mini fruit and custard tart, a chocolate mousse cake and a layered white chocolate and cherry cake.

The chocolate mousse cake was absolutely to die for – the clear winner, and the pistachio and caramel macarons came a close second.

French & Mor High Tea – Final Thoughts

French & Mor is a great choice for a local Brisbane high tea – and excellent value too. The teas and cakes are the standouts of this French-inspired high tea experience.

With thanks to French & Mor for hosting us! As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
