Located in the Pacific Fair shopping centre in Broadbeach, the new Hello Kitty Café is fast becoming a Gold Coast icon.
This Japanese café is cutesy and eye-popping and will be a huge hit with the kids. It’s no wonder it’s attracting quite a buzz.
The Cafe
The Hello Kitty café is located in the food court of the shopping centre but has it’s own separate seating section. Grab-and-go takeaway food is available from the cabinets, or if you’d prefer to dine in, you can order food and drinks (but not cakes) directly to your table.

Firmly embracing all things Hello Kitty, the café is visually appealing wherever you look. The wallpaper has rainbows and clouds, the walls are painted pink and the food is eye-popping and colourful.
The staff are friendly and helpful, though the layout can feel a little confusing at first. There are multiple sections and counters and you have to order the sweet treats separately.
The Food
The cabinets in the Hello Kitty Cafe are stocked with cake pops, brightly coloured cake slices, muffins and even sandos – the popular Japanese snack of a sandwich stuffed with fruit and sweet cream.

There’s also a full menu of Japanese favourites including bento boxes and poke bowls, and sweet drinks like milkshakes, iced teas and fizzy sodas. Everything is either shaped like Hello Kitty or decorated with a Hello Kitty bow.

We tried the chicken bento box, which came with crispy fried chicken, a Hello Kitty-shaped rice patty, mashed potato, dipping sauce, veggies and salad. We also tried the strawberries and cream sando, a strawberry refresher drink, and a cake pop.

The sando was delicious but very filling – it would be ideal for sharing. The cake pop was a winner with the kids, and the strawberry refresher drink was tasty and not too sweet.
The food is very pretty – you’re eating with your eyes here – but it has substance as well as style and is quite delicious.
A Hello Kitty high tea on a tiered stand is also available for $60 – this would be a fun treat to take your little princess to.
Speaking of high teas, the Gold Coast has some of the best high teas in Queensland.
Hello Kitty Cafe – Final Thoughts
The Hello Kitty Café is a must-visit with kids, but it’s good fun for everyone. Come hungry and be prepared for some sweet indulgence!
Looking for more things to do in the Gold Coast? I have plenty of ideas here.
