Tea Room Travels has reached 50 posts!
If you’ve been following along with my journey since the beginning, you’ll know this is a personal milestone that I really wanted to achieve within the first 6 months, so I’m pleased so say I’ve hit it.
As always, I’m grateful for all the support. Whether that’s from a new subscriber to the blog, a like on social media, telling me you like the content, or clicking on my links which will one day hopefully allow me to do this as a full-time gig.
To celebrate reaching 50 posts, here’s a little recap of the highlights of Tea Room Travels so far, including some posts you may have missed, and a sneak peek of what’s coming up.
England Trip Reports
We had an epic month-long road trip around the UK last September, in fact it’s what inspired me to start this blog in the first place. My England trip reports continue. We’re nearing the end of the trip now but still some cracking places coming up including Devon and Stonehenge.
The Best Of The England Trip Reports
- Chatsworth – find out what I found in the Chatsworth gift shop that inspired this whole blog.
- York – the best city we visited. We even found a few ghosts there.
- The Lake District – such a beautiful part of England
- Was this the best day of the trip?
- Or was it the day we visited Alnwick and Dunstanburgh?
- Or maybe the day we spent with Vikings and puffins?
I have also really enjoyed highlighting some areas of England that might ordinarily get overlooked. Like St Albans, Dudley, Northumberland, or my home town of Welwyn Garden City.

Exploring Brisbane and Around
Now a Brisbane resident of 10 years, I love getting out and about with the kids and exploring my local areas of Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
Some of the highlights have been:
- In Brisbane – the Mad Hatters high tea at the Stamford Plaza was so much fun.
- On the Gold Coast – Sea World makes for a great day out with the kids.
- On the Sunshine Coast there are some great attractions like Amaze World and Bird World, not to mention beautiful beaches in Mooloolaba.
My Most Popular Posts
My Bluey’s World review is by far and away my most popular post and has achieved the most Google search results.

Closely followed by The Ritz afternoon tea review.
And speaking of afternoon tea, writing reviews of afternoon teas has been one of my favourite things about this journey. I’m more than happy to sample any and all afternoon teas in the name of research!
On social media my most popular posts have been:
- My American destination guides. These are based on knowledge I have acquired from many road trips through the US – Yellowstone, California and Monument Valley are my favourite places in the US, so it made sense for me to start with these.
- Castles. I love nothing more than delving into the history of a centuries old castle. Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh and Warwick Castle were my favourites.

Hotels
I’ve stayed in some amazing places recently. The highlights are:
- Langley Castle Hotel – a genuine medieval castle in Northumberland which was one of my favourite stops on our road trip.
- Imperial Hotel Gold Coast – a bit of luxury and pampering was much-needed!
- Glamping at Noosa Habitat – really getting back to nature here.
- Sea Shanties at Stradbroke Island – these cabins are right on the water.

For The Kids
If you’re exploring with your family, there’s plenty on Tea Room Travels geared towards the kids:
- They might like to be a Zookeeper for a Day in Australia Zoo
- Or if you’re looking for school holiday ideas in Brisbane have a read of this.
- If you’re not sure about whether travelling with young kids is a good idea, read my article on why you should travel with your kids.

Still To Come
I’ve got heaps more to write about! Coming up:
- Something a little Italian.
- More US road trip guides, including arguably the best place for a road trip – the American Southwest.
- Anyone for a cruise?
- And my most requested post – my packing list that I use for every trip.
