The Colmslie Hotel is a large, sprawling pub and restaurant complex in the inner-city suburb of Morningside, Brisbane. As well as the restaurant and playground there’s a bar, gaming room and accommodation. It’s a popular choice for gatherings with family and friends.

The Venue
The Colmslie Hotel is a multi-room pub and restaurant with plenty of space.
It’s also a hotel and function venue, so there’s always lots of people around and a good buzz to the place. The bar area is multi-levelled and huge with pool tables, sports screens and regular events like a weekly trivia night.
The restaurant has a decent ambience and you can see the playground if you sit near the windows. If you’d like to be right next to the playground to keep an eye on the kids there’s an outside seating area with tables. This is also a good option for kids’ birthday parties.
It can get really busy, especially if there are large gatherings, so do book ahead.
The Food
In the restaurant there’s a full menu with all your pub favourites such as steaks, parmis and burgers, as well as a few more interesting dishes like lemon butter barramundi and chicken kiev. The kids meals are the standard chicken nuggets, burgers and pasta and come with a soft drink. The food is simple, no-frills pub food. It won’t be the best food you’ve ever had, but you’re here to relax while the kids play in the playground so it does the job.
In the bar area there’s a daily carvery roast offered. The carvery is excellent value at only $12.95, but this can strictly only be eaten in the bar. This is really disappointing as the playground is next to the restaurant and a long way from the bar, so the carvery isn’t an option for families.
The service throughout is great and the food normally comes out promptly.
The Colmslie Hotel Playground
The Colmslie Hotel playground consists of a wooden fort, slides, shop. boat and some obstacles. It’s not huge, but it does keep the kids entertained and is fully enclosed.
The playground is mostly shaded by the trees. but certain parts will be in full sun depending on the time of day.

The Colmslie is a relaxing choice for a family-friendly lunch. The food is simple, and the kids will love the playground.
