Alexandra Hills Hotel is a huge resort-style complex in Brisbane’s southeastern bayside. Near coastal suburbs like Cleveland and Wellington Point, this pub with a playground leans into its coastal setting, with white furniture, leafy palms and a breezy ambience.

The Venue
Alexandra Hills Hotel is a sizeable venue comprising a pub, conference centre and hotel.
There are lots of different seating areas to choose, both inside and out, making this venue ideal for larger gatherings.
Overlooking the outdoor playground is a large undercover deck. This is where I recommend you park yourself if your kids are entertaining themselves in the playground.

The Food
The menu consists of standard pub classics and some good-value daily specials like steak night and a roast from the carvery.
On the children’s menu you’ll find the usual suspects of chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers, but also a kids’ lasagne, which was a little different. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that on a kids menu before.
A note to other pubs and restaurants – can we start offering a little more variety on the kids’ menus?
We did note that ordering the food was a slow process. The QR code on the table wasn’t working, so we had to queue at the bar. And there was only one terminal operating which made service slow.
The Playground
The outdoor playground is fully fenced and a good size, although there’s not actually a lot of equipment. There’s a few cubby houses, slides, stepping stones, monkey bars and a surfboard. Given the size of the playground they could add a little more, but for kids with imagination they’ll enjoy the large space.
The playground is partly covered by shade sails but does get hot when the sun beats down on it.
The main playground is designed for younger kids, but for the older children there’s a basketball hoop and a few ping pong tables just outside the playground.
Onsite you’ll also find mini golf, which could be a fun activity for the whole family after lunch.
Alexandra Hills Hotel: Final Thoughts
Alexandra Hills Hotel is a good solid choice for a pub with a playground, decent food, nice ambience and plenty of space for the kids to run around. Perfect for a relaxed Sunday lunch with the extended family.
