Just steps from the rainforest and a short stroll from Gallery Walk, Mountain Sanctuary B&B on Tamborine Mountain is a warm, welcome hideaway.
This award-winning B&B offers a cosy base in the Gold Coast Hinterland, where you can expect a friendly welcome, genuine hospitality, and the opportunity to slow down and reconnect with nature.
Only an hour’s drive from Brisbane, Mountain Sanctuary is ideal for a quick weekend getaway.
The Setting
Mountain Sanctuary B&B sits on a one-acre block amid lush gardens blooming with flowers, fruit trees and tropical plants.

Cockatoos, kookaburras and wallabies are regular visitors to the garden, and you can enjoy watching them right from the breakfast room. Or better yet, take your morning coffee out on the deck and watch the cockatoos having their breakfast too.

At the end of the street, the Palm Grove trail leads you straight into the rainforest.
The Guesthouse
Inside, you’ll find three guest rooms (each with an ensuite), plus a huge guest lounge centred around an impressive fireplace – the perfect spot for a glass of wine or a mug of hot chocolate on a chilly evening.

There’s also a kitchenette, breakfast room, library of books and games, and plenty to explore in the gardens.
The Rooms
There are three spacious suites to choose from – the Sanctuary Suite, Tropical Suite and Palm Grove Suite.

Each room features a queen bed, ensuite with walk-in shower and jetted tub, seating area, and private balcony overlooking the gardens. You’ll find all the usual comforts like ceiling fans, air conditioning and TVs, as well as thoughtful extra touches like bathrobes and tea and coffee facilities.

I stayed in the Palm Grove Suite, the largest of the three. It felt like my own private sanctuary – quiet, peaceful, and wonderfully snug. After a good night’s sleep in the sumptuous bed, I woke up feeling very relaxed, with nothing but the sounds of nature and the birds singing.
Breakfast
Each morning begins with a generous continental breakfast, included in the room rate: toast, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, juice and coffee.

If you’d prefer a heartier meal, you can opt to pay extra for a cooked breakfast instead, and this can even be delivered to your room so you can enjoy breakfast in bed – what a treat!
Final Thoughts
Mountain Sanctuary B&B Tamborine Mountain is a charming retreat for a relaxed couples getaway.
The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, and the rainforest setting is unbeatable.

What Else to do Nearby
From Mountain Sanctuary it’s a 10 minute stroll to Gallery Walk, where you’ll find quirky gift shops and the excellent Franquette bakery, with the largest loaves of sourdough I’ve ever seen.
Don’t miss Tamborine Mountain Distillery at the end of Gallery Walk – read my full review here.
For dining, I recommend St Marthe, a French restaurant in North Tamborine. It has a crackling log fire and a seriously impressive souffle.
For nature lovers, the Palm Grove Circuit rainforest walk begins right at the end of the street. Also nearby you have Curtis Falls, a short walk through the rainforest to a beautiful waterfall, Rotary Lookout, a popular spot to watch sunset, and the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens.
